The working principle and process flow of semi-hollow rivet riveting mainly involve the following steps:
Working principle: The upper and middle parts of the semi-hollow rivet are solid structures, and the tail is a hollow structure. During installation, the hollow part of the tail is extruded and turned outward to form a buckle, thereby fixing the connecting piece. This structure makes semi-hollow rivets widely used in the field, especially in the clothing, footwear and other industries. Due to its unique structure and installation method, it can effectively fix the connecting piece and ensure the stability of the connection.
Process flow:
Drilling: First, drill a hole with the same diameter as the rivet on the metal parts to be connected.
Installing rivets: Insert the rivet into the drilled hole and make its head completely contact with the connecting part.
Select rivet pliers: According to the size and shape of the rivet and the metal parts to be connected, select the appropriate rivet pliers. ‌
Operating the riveting pliers: Place the riveting pliers at the tail of the rivet, press the rivet to make it widen into a flat shape, and integrate it with the metal parts to be connected. ‌
Removing the riveting pliers: When the riveting pliers have completed the operation, remove them from the rivet, and the riveting is completed2. ‌
In addition, the self-piercing riveting process of semi-hollow rivets also includes quality evaluation research, and the riveting quality is judged by visual inspection and direct observation inspection. ‌Good semi-hollow rivet self-piercing riveting quality is manifested in that the deformation section of the rivet is axially symmetrical, there is no crack in the sheet under the rivet head, the rivet head is in full contact with the sheet without a gap, the rivet and the sheet are completely filled without a gap, the tail of the rivet is fully opened and surrounded by enough sheet, and the lower sheet is uniformly deformed without cracks or punctures.
